Food:
Mater Dei has arranged to have their concession stand open for this event. The will have hot dogs, burgers, burritos, nachos, etc. available to purchase. An announcement will be made at the event to remind teams to get their food orders in the morning of the event by 11:00am to avoid long lines during the one hour lunch break.
There are a large number of restaurants nearby (too many to list) that teams can arrange to order food from as well. As a reminder, tournament turns will be quick so please make your food plans early.
Team size and game rules: Maximum team size, rules and game structure will match FIRST FTC's Game Manual 1 & 2 for the 2017-2018 season, similar to a regional or league championship tournament. We have 16 teams registered to compete this year, so teams will be arranged in 2 team alliances (versus 3 team alliances) for the elimination rounds. Qualifying rounds will be a minimum of 6 games and we are looking at the possibility of 7 or 8 rounds.
We will be running 2 fields which will result in quick match turn-arounds, so bring extra batteries!
List of Teams Competing: Click Here
Awards will be Cal State Games based with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals to be awarded. A consolation match (same best 2 out of 3) will be held between the Semi-finalists to determine the Bronze.
Judging: During this first year, teams will be participating in a tournament competition format only. Judged awards are not anticipated at this time.
Opening Ceremonies “optional” on Friday night, July 13. This event will be part of the 2018 Cal State Games and is “free” to teams participating in the parade of athletes. The Opening Ceremonies is an event when all athletes, parents, and coaches gather to share in the spectacle and pageantry of the Games. This is the night when every athlete is treated like an Olympian.
