From Pam Meistrell of the Rancho Santa Fe FTC teams:
Hello Gauss, Descartes, Euclid & Turing Leagues! If any teams from our FTC Leagues this past season are interested in a final competition opportunity (Velocity Vortex) before everyone takes off for the summer, there is a low-key event at the Del Mar Fairgrounds Sat, June 10. Our school is bringing the field setup/components. $25 fee per team includes a pass for each team member into the Fair – what a deal! No stress – just FUN! So far there are eight FTC teams: Inspiration, Green.Griffins, RSF Intergalactic Dragons, RSF Logitechies, RSF Singularity, RSF NewBees, Correia Middle School, and Point Loma Senior High School. Did I forget anyone? Saturday, June 10 10:00am-4:00pm (might finish earlier) 4th Floor Grandstand at the Fairgrounds Registration deadline has been extended to this Friday 5/19. It might still say the 12th, but it’s been extended. https://sdfair.com/contests/summer-of-robotics/ The Robotics Division number is 5001, and the class number for FTC is 002. If you have any specific questions you can contact Samantha Hamilton at SouthWest Robotics in Science Education shamilton@swrise.org

They are expanding the program this year including Team Inspiration. I can vow how successful their programs are. Some of the Inspiration team members had taken the class last year, and it really helped Inspiration team to perform this season. Coach Olivia has multiple FLL Southern California championship teams in her coaching credit. Under her and Shilin's coaching team, they went to the FIRST World Championship twice by being the champions at Legoland and is also heading over to European championship this year. You already know that they are very competitive FTC teams also. Inspiration team had successfully guided six Meadowbrook Middle School FLL teams and their coaches. The six Meadowbrook FLL teams won four first places and two championship titles in their respective qualified tournaments during the 2016-2017 seasons. Two also placed in Southern California championships. We are pretty happy about our first FTC experience also and will share our journey. Please help to spread words of this Summer FIRST training program. It is also part of our FTC/FLL teams fundraising activities and spreading the news of FIRST. Thank you for the consideration." -- Alex Szeto, Coach Team Inspiration For further information, see the attached pdf, go to https://www.all-staracademy.com/robotics-and-more or call Coach Olivia 858-204-0170 for questions.
