PARKING INFORMATION

2/13 Initial update
Not pop-up tents or 10’ x 10’ booths please out of respect for other teams and our space constraints.

Also – teams are going to be pitted in numerical order.  I know that has an impact on a few schools with multiple teams but it makes it more difficult for the judges, who we all want to keep happy 😊, if the booths aren’t in order.

CHECK RULE <RE1> and make sure your robot complies!

Hey teams, it’s the inspection crew! Congrats on making it to the Regional! Hardware and Field inspection will be STRICT, with no leeway on rules. Some of the major points to prepare for:
  • External Power Switches. Switches must be accessible, not buried within the robot. (Use of the switch on the MR Core PDM will not pass inspection)
  • Robot Sizing
  • Batteries are secured within the robot.
  • Sharp edges. Tape over these edges will not pass.
  • Secured electronics and wiring.
  • Team Number Sizing on the robot. Read the game manual for Sizing.
  • If it’s a rule in the Game Manual, it will be enforced.

See you tonight for set up!

The San Diego FTC Regional needs Volunteers!  Please send an email to [email protected] if you can help out!
Food
We will have food trucks at the venue from about 10:30 to 1:30.  Meals from the trucks will cost between $8 - $12. You may bring your own food to the event but you will need to eat in designated areas out of respect of the venue.  No BBQ’s please.

Safety Glasses
Anyone in the pits or on the competition field must wear safety glasses. We will not provide glasses. Teams are required to provide their own for team members and mentors.  Note: judges will be wandering the pits, some of them not identifiable. Please be sure to impress them with your correct usage of safety glasses!

Alliance Selection and Playoffs
At the end of 6 qualification rounds, the top 4 ranked teams will select two partners each to form 3-team alliances. The playoff matches will be best 2 out of 3.  Please read the game manual for more details.

Advancement to the Super-Regionals
4 Teams from the San Diego region will advance to the Super-Regional per the advancement criteria in the Game Manual

Consent Forms and STIMS Rosters
Thank you all for submitting these in a timely manner.  If you bring students with the team that are not on your roster, bring a paper copy of an updated roster or have them fill out an individual consent form.

The overall schedule is below

Check-in & Inspection Process
  1. Check-in starts promptly at 7:00.  Please be on time – this is critical to everyone having a good day.
  2. One mentor will check in the team at the check-in table and turn in the team’s Engineering Notebook at for the judges to review.  To be considered for the control award, your Control Award Content sheet (attached) must be in the front of the engineering notebook when you turn it in.
  3. Two team members will take the robot directly to either field (at the fields) or hardware inspection (at tables near the entrance). The remaining team members go to the pits to set up.  Please see the judging/inspection schedule to know whether you go to hardware or software inspection first.  Teams in 7:30 judging get priority in inspection line, but should go to judging even if inspection is not finished
  4. Please also note you can NOT take the robot to the pits until it has passed inspection, so come with your robot "test ready."

Robot and Field Inspections (blank forms found below - MUST fill out in advance)
  1. You are required to bring both the robot and field pre-completed checklists to inspection. Please fill this out before coming to the tournament to ensure inspections go efficiently and so you can avoid having your robot disqualified. We will not have the capacity to print these forms out on site.
  2. Note: all rules will be fully enforced at this event. Please be sure you have completed a thorough self-inspection before coming to the event even if you passed at previous events. Be mindful of the power switch requirement this year that will be fully enforced.

Judging
  1. Please refresh yourself on the SDFTC link regarding judging: www.sdftc.org/blog/judged-awards-at-this-years-ftc-league-and-regional-championships
  2. The judging schedule is attached to this email. Teams are responsible for showing up to judging on time. Late teams may lose time for judging.
  3. Don’t bring your engineering notebook to judging.  Instead, turn it in at check-in.
