Parking
Parking at Francis Parker has improved immensely! There is a full two floor underground parking area just before you get to the Field house. Plan to drop off your supplies efficiently then move out of the way to allow other teams access. Please be patient and take care not to block access while dropping off and obey all posted parking restrictions and instructions from security. Francis Parker security staff is wonderful, please give them your cooperation, they will always try to do their best for us.
Pit Areas
An outdoor pit area will be provided to each team in a 10' x 10' area. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN 10' pop-up tent to cover your area. Power will be provided as well as one table.
Access, Safety Glasses and Masks
The outdoor field and pit areas will be designated as one of the restricted areas, along with the practice fields and judging areas. These are limited to teams members, volunteers/judges and mentors with wrist bands. Safety glasses and masks will be required in these areas at all times.
We will not provide safety glasses or masks. Teams are required to provide their own for team members and mentors. Note: judges will be wandering the pits, some of them not identifiable. Please be sure to impress them with your correct usage of safety glasses!
Spectators
There will be 2-3 restricted areas on site, including the main tournament area that is confined to an area on top of the parking garage. These will be limited to team members, volunteers/judges/VIPs and mentors with wrist bands who have completed the COVID screening process as communicated to each team mentor and volunteer/volunteer coordinator. Masking will be required in all of these areas.
Spectators may watch the event from outside of these areas.
MENTORS/COACHES - please make sure to communicate the following to any potential spectators:
Consent Forms, COVID forms and STIMS Rosters.
Thank you all for submitting the Rosters via the jotform. If you bring students with the team that are not on your roster, bring a paper copy of an updated roster or have them fill out an individual consent form.

Check-in & Inspection Process
- Check-in starts promptly at 6:45. Please be on time and plan your time for the parking issues mentioned on this page – this is critical to everyone having a good day.
- One mentor will check in the team at the check-in table and turn in the team’s Engineering Portfolio. To be considered for the control award, your Control Award Content sheet must be submitted at this time.
- Two team members will take the robot directly to either field (at the fields) or hardware inspection (at tables near the entrance). The remaining team members may go to the pits to set up. Please see the judging/inspection schedule to know whether to go to hardware or software inspection first. Teams in 7:30 judging are allowed to go straight to their pits but should go to inspections immediately after their judging time is finished. All other teams should note you can NOT take the robot to the pits until it has passed inspection, so come with your robot "test ready."
- Only COVID Screened individuals as identified and reported by the team Lead Mentor and Volunteer Coordinator will be allowed into the restricted areas. Information regarding this process was emailed separately by Volunteer Coordinator Victor Ciccarelli. Please send questions regarding this process to [email protected].
Robot and Field Inspections (blank forms can be found on firstinspires.org - MUST fill out in advance)
- You are required to bring both the robot and field pre-completed checklists to inspection. Please fill this out before coming to the tournament to ensure inspections go efficiently and so you can avoid having your robot disqualified. We will not have the capacity to print these forms out on site.
- Note: all rules will be fully enforced at this event. Please be sure you have completed a thorough self-inspection before coming to the event even if you passed at previous events.
- Here are the links for this year's inspection forms to print out: Robot / Field
- Please make sure your software is up to date! Wifi may be limited on site to complete any updates that are required during the field inspection! HOT SPOTS are forbidden and teams with teams members or spectators using Hot Spots may be requested to excuse themselves from the competition.
Judging
- Please refresh yourself on the SDFTC link regarding judging: https://www.sdftc.org/2022judging.html
- The judging schedule will be shared at check in on the day of the event - be prepared to go to judging at any time
