Meet 2 scores and rankings are now posted:
http://www.sdftc.org/scores-and-rankings.html However, cumulative League rankings are still being processed. For all San Diego FTC League teams: RoBowties 6137 will be holding a Robot Workshop next week on Monday Jan 16 (Martin Luther King Day) from 1-4pm so if you'd like some help troubleshooting a hardware or software problem, or want access to a full field to try your autonomous program or practice driving, come and bring your robot. We have limited tools here and no drill press or bandsaw so bring whatever you think you'll need. We are located in the University City neighborhood - if you're interested in participating, RSVP to RoBowties at robowties@gmail.com to get directions and details and so we can get a count.
Dear San Diego FTC Coaches and Senior Students:
Applications are now open for the 2017 San Diego FTC Achievement Scholarship. There will be two $2,000 scholarships awarded: one to a senior boy and one to a senior girl. If finances permit, runner-up scholarships may be awarded as well. Deadline: February 17, 2017 at 11:59 pm Winners Announced: February 25, 2017 (at the San Diego Regional Championship) Team coaches have received the application forms by email. To apply, just return the application, the coach recommendation form, and the (optional but strongly recommended) counselor recommendation form so that they are received by February 17, 2017. Questions? Just ask. John Brooks FTC Affiliate Partner, San Diego Teams don't forget that you need to be aware of servo controller limitations: For example, the Modern Robotics Core Servo Controller is limited to 5 Amps of continuous output current, so if your robot gets stuck with servos fully on, they could draw too much current and cause a problem. Fortunately FTC #4251 Cougar Robotics gathered information on common servo stall currents back in 2014: http://cougarrobot.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=327:servo-stall-currents&catid=99:general From John & Marion Brooks
FIRST Tech Challenge Affiliate Partners, San Diego Dean’s List Candidates – Plan ahead. Dean’s List submissions need to be complete by January 15, 2017. Interviews for Dean’s List will take place at the League Tournaments on Feb 4 & 5. Dean’s List Interviewers – We still need volunteers to be interviewers for Dean’s List. We still need the following volunteers: 3 for Gauss, 2 for Descartes, 3 for Euclid and 0 for Turing (YAY! Turing). No experience is required!
There are a number of FIRST-affiliated internships available to high school and/or college students at the FIRST alumni webpage
http://www.firstinspires.org/alumni In particular with a deadline Jan 3rd (!), there are internships available at Apple for high school sophomores and juniors - so take a look at the list! |
