SDFTC Remote Scoring Process and "How To" to maintain Honesty, Integrity and Transparency
Hello Teams!
Below are some specific guidelines on how to complete you Remote Scoring runs.
Note: Much of what is posted here matches or was extracted from the the NORCAL FTC "Fair Play" initiative. Although the San Diego region did not explicitly implemented this program due to the late change into a fully remote competition season, please compete with the same honestly and integrity!

"How To"
1) Watch this video and read the game manuals on how to score your matches: https://youtu.be/MUmEredUYZ
2) Schedule a specific time to compete your runs
3) As a team, EVERYONE should agree that this is "Run #" so and so with a thumbs up
4) Share your run live with your "Partner" team via some unofficial collaborative process (Facetime, discord video, etc.) - and maybe check with your partner to see if they need to borrow any game elements or a field to use!
5) Record and post your videos to YouTube using the guidelines posted here: www.sdftc.org/sdftc-qualifiers-2020-2021
6) Select your autonomous program before you randomize
7) Submit honest scores, don’t give your team freebies
8) Penalties are part of the game, make sure to give your team any earned penalties
Some temptations to avoid
1) Stating a run doesn't count because of a silly error (no battery, forgot to hit start, etc.) - you can't do that in a real tournament so avoid doing it here
2) Selecting the autonomous program after randomization
3) Normalizing your score - i.e., we would “normally” have gotten this or that, and change the match score to reflect something that wasn’t earned for that run
4) Completing and scoring runs continuously until you get the 6 scores you want (you can run practice runs as much as you like - but call your tournament runs for what they are)

A IMPORTANT closing note and quote: Please check out the NORCAL FTC "Fair Play" page to see their entire program: www.norcalftc.org/fair-play-for-ftc/
As the Global Chief FTC Referee Marc Edelman so eloquently states "If you are only involved to get a trophy, let me know, I’ll connect you with our trophy vendor, you can get your trophy and get out of the way of the teams that want to participate in FIRST Tech Challenge for the opportunities it represents!"
