For high school candidates: The Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (SEAP) provides an opportunity for students to participate in research at a Department of Navy (DoN) laboratory during the summer. The goals of SEAP are to encourage participating students to pursue science and engineering careers, to further their education via mentoring by laboratory personnel and their participation in research, and to make them aware of DoN research and technology efforts, which can lead to employment within the DoN. Siemens sponsors a competition for individual high school seniors or teams of high school students - unfortunately the deadline for teams to be finalized has passed. However, individual high school seniors can still apply. Research Reports may be submitted on projects in the fields of mathematics, engineering, biological and physical sciences. Social and behavioral science research projects are NOT eligible.
Scholarship awards range from $1000 to $100,000 - deadline is Sep 19, 2017. It is currently sponsored by Regeneron, and was sponsored by Intel before that and Westinghouse before that. The program seeks high school seniors who have done independent research, and there are many scholarships available from $2000 awards to 300 students all the way up to $250,000 for the top scholar!
